MOC 5: Photography Challenge (ohne Menschen)

Für die Challenge an Tag 5 sollten wir ein Foto ohne Menschen verwenden. Nichts einfacher als das! Dieser Drache hatte es mir schon angetan, als ich ihn zum ersten Mal gesehen habe, und ich glaube, ich könnte noch zehn Layouts mit dem Foto machen.

For the challenge on day 5 we were supposed to use a people-less photo. Well, that's easy! I loved that dragon at first sight and I could probably make another ten pages with the picture.

MOC 3: Mood board challenge

MOC Tag 3: Die Herausforderung: Kreiere ein Mood Board und dann danach ein Layout. Ich hatte schon letztes Jahr einige Mood Board gemacht (die ich noch immer nicht gepostet habe), und das hat richtig Spass gemacht. Als Thema dachte ich mir sowas wie "Paris Chic". Daraus ist dann dieses Mood Board entstanden:

MOC Day3: The challenge: Create a mood board and then a layout with it as inspiration. I already made a few mood boards last year and really enjoyed it. As the topic I chose something along the lines of "Paris Chic". Below is my result: 

MOC 1: Blind Scrap

Heute reiche ich noch mein erstes Layout für den MOC nach. Die erste Challenge war ein "Blind Scrap" - man bekommt ein paar Anweisungen und macht danach sein Layout.

Dieses Jahr sind mir endlich mal ein paar Feuerwerksbilder geglückt, weil ich mir ein ziemlich praktisches kleines Stativ mit Fernbedienung gekauft habe, das ich um die Balkonbrüstung gewickelt habe. Ha!!!

Today I am showing you my first MOC layout for a blind scrap, i.e. you scrap your page according to a few instructions. 

This year I could finally come up with some fireworks shots because I bought this nifty little tripod with a remote control that I wrapped around our balcony railing. Love it!

Art Journaling: People who say it cannot be done

Für eine Challenge sollte man ein Layout machen, mit einem schrägen Design, schräg wie in schief... Sowas ist überhaupt nicht mein Ding, aber was soll's. Keinesfalls mache ich ein Layout mit Fotos so, also mußte es so was wie eine AJ Seite werden.

Im Grunde genommen könnte man auch alles gerade machen und dann am Schluß einfach drehen. Wie sich herausstellte, ist das offenbar sogar üblich, aber ich dachte mir , das wäre wie Schummeln, also habe ich alles einzeln gleich sofort schief angelegt.
Ich kann nicht sagen, daß ich echt begeistert bin, aber zumindest bekomme ich keine hysterischen Zustände, wenn ich das Layout ansehe. Und das Zitat ist einfach klasse!

For a challenge a slanted layout was required. Not my thing at all. But so what, I was game, but definitely not for a page with photos so it had to be an AJ page.

Basically you can create the layout as usually and then just tilt everything in the end. As it happened, this was what a lot of people did, but I felt this was a bit like cheating, so I tilted everything from the beginning.
I can't say that I am enthusiastic about this page, but at least I am not having a fit looking at it. And I do love the quote.

Art Journaling: Monthly Muse Dezember Überblick

Im Dezember dachte ich, ich mache mal wieder ein Skinny Layout im Querformat und fange diesmal unten an.

In December I once more made a skinny, but horizontally and starting from the bottom.

Woche 1: Mir kam die Idee mit dem Weihnachtsbaum, den ich mit verschiedenen Fotos füllen will (immer nach dem Motto der Woche). Das erste Motto ist "Seeing", also für mich sind das Weihnachtslichter. So ganz ausgereift ist das noch nicht, aber das findet sich schon noch.

Week 1: I had the idea with the Christmas tree that I want to fill with various photos (according to the week's motto). The first one is "Seeing", so for me that is Christmas lights and ornaments. Not really worked out in great detail, but that will come.

Layout: Unusual commute

Nach all dem Reden von Cutouts kürzlich im Lilypad Forum mußte ich sie auch einmal wieder ausprobieren (schon zu sehen in meinem DYD Cover). Ich bin dann gleich einen Schritt weiter gegangen und habe eine Template mit verschiedenen Spots für Papiere gemacht, die man dann nach Belieben befüllen oder weglassen kann.

Das Layout ist über einen für mich ungewöhnlichen Weg zur Arbeit. Mein Auto hatte einen Platten, und ich mußte mit öffentlichen Verkehrsmitteln zur Arbeit fahren, was bedeutete: Von einer Endstation zur anderen mit der Tram, dann durch einen Park und über einen verlassenen Festplatz - richtig unheimlich früh am Morgen.

OK, after all the talk about cutouts I had to give them a go and create my own but went a step further and made a template with different paper spots for every cut out, that one can fill or leave empty as desired.

This is about a few days of me commuting by public transport because my car had a flat tyre. It involved going from the start of the line to the last stop and then walking through a park and across a deserted fairground - spooky!

Und wieder eine Seite für mein London 1994 Album. Diesmal habe ich überhaupt kein eigenes Foto gehabt, sondern nur eine Broschüre, die ich eingescannt habe. Das wundervolle Foto fand ich bei Wikimedia Commons und es wird der Kirche 100% gerecht.
Zusammen mit der Maske, manchmal kann man sich einfach nicht sattsehen!

Layout: I'd rather sit on a pumpkin

Während des Halloween Bashs gab es auch eine Inspiration Challenge, bei der man sich aus drei Mood Boards eines aussuchen sollte. Alle waren herbstlich - halloween-ish, also war das keine große Herausforderung.

Das Zitat von Thoreau hat mir gut gefallen, also habe ich mir dafür ein Stock Foto von ein paar Kürbissen ausgesucht. das bekommt man gleich Lust auf einen Herbstspaziergang, oder?

During the Halloween bash there was an inspiration challenge with three mood boards to choose from. All of them were about autumn or Halloween, so not big challenge there.

I really liked Thoreau's quote , so I went with a stock photo of some pumpkins. You immediately want to go for an autumn walk now, right?

Und wieder ist eine Seite für mein London 1994 Album fertig. Diesmal mit den typischen Londoner Wahrzeichen, Harrods, schwarzes Taxi und roter Doppeldecker Bus.

Das Foto oben links ist ein Stock Foto, unten links eine eingescannte Postkarte. Ohne all dies wäre ich echt aufgeschmissen....

The photo top left is a stock photo, bottom left a scanned postcard. Without all these I'd be at a loss...

Art Journaling: Monthly Muse Oktober Woche 3 - Summer at the Lake

Für die Monthly Muse in der dritten Woche war der Sommer dran. Ich glaube meine Monthly Muse war noch nie so inkonsistent wie im Oktober. Meine bisherigen drei Layouts haben echt überhaupt nichts gemeinsam.

For the third week of the Monthly Muse it was summer's turn. I don't think my monthly muse pages were ever that inconsistent before, they really have nothing in common this months.

Layout: Getting high

Für die Inspiration Challenge sollte man sich Inspiration von einem Liedtext holen, nämlich dem hier: The sunshine song von Jason Mraz.

Ich geb' es zu, ich hab mir nur die Lyrics durchgelesen und mir dann den Song gar nicht angehört (erst als ich fertig war mit dem Layout, habe ich es angespielt und nach 20 Sekunden abgestellt - äh, nö!). Aber ist auch wurscht; in den Lyrics (die mir generell zu weinerlich sind) war ein Satz, den ich dann doch brauchen konnte.

For an inspiration challenge we were supposed to get inspiration from some song lyrics: The sunshine song von Jason Mraz.

I admit it, I read the lyrics, and never even listened to the song. Only after I was done I  started listening but turned it off after 20 seconds, um - no!). Doesn't matter though, I did find one part of a sentence that I wanted to use (in general the lyrics are too whiney for me).

An Hintergründen habe ich viel ausprobiert, Holz, bunt, einfarbig, bis ich dann auf diesen blautürkisen Hintergrund gestossen bin, ihn mit einem Foto vom Bodensee vermischt habe und etwas Holz oben drauf. Perfekt!

I tried a lot of backgrounds , wood, solid colour, until I found this blue-ish turquoise background that I mixed up with a photo of Lake Constance and some wood on top. Perfect!

Layout: My happy place

"My happy place" habe ich für die DSD Journaling Challenge gemacht.

Neutrale Hintergründe haben echt große Vorteile. Erstens paßt fast alles dazu, zweitens wirkt das Layout nie zu überladen. Der Font Thank you ist wirklich fantastisch, ich habe ihn kürzlich ein paar Mal benutzt, er gefällt mir von Mal zu Mal besser.

I made "My happy place" for the DSD journaling challenge.

Neutral backgrounds have great advantages. First, almost everything goes with them, second the layout never looks too busy. The font Thank you really is awesome, I have used it a few times recently and I love it more and more.

Reisealbum London - Tower of London

Wieder eine Seite meines London 1994 Albums geschafft!

Die Layouts gehen alle sehr schnell, einerseits, weil die Templates schon so ausgefeilt sind, daß man kaum noch Embellishments braucht, andererseits, weil ich mich dann auch tatsächlich auf das Nötigste beschränke. Sicher, man könnte noch drunter irgendwelche Masken anbringen und obendrauf jede Menge Zeug, aber das gefällt mir hier nicht. Manche Layouts sind ein bißchen detaillierter als andere, aber im Großen und Ganzen sind alle ziemlich simpel.

Another page for my London 1994 album. The layouts are all done really quickly. One reason are the templates which are so sophisticated that you hardly need any embellishments. Another, because I really limit myself to the necessities. Sure, one could add masks underneath and tons of dimensional stuff on top, but I don't like that here. Some album layouts are more detailed than others, but on the whole they all are pretty simple.

Art Journaling: You know who's gonna give you everything?

Möglicherweise etwas pessimistisch, aber den Wahrheitsgehalt kann man hier nicht abstreiten.

Possibly rather pessimistic, but one cannot deny the truth in that.

Layout: Make every moment count

Bei dieser Challenge sollten wir ein schwarz-weiß Layout kreieren mit nur einem Farbtupfer. Nicht gerade meine Stärke!

Es hat Spass gemacht, die ganzen Papiere und Elemente in Grautönen zusammenzusuchen, denn von Desaturieren von Elementen halte ich nicht viel. Mit hat natürlich (wieder einmal) mein Lieblingskit "It's not just black and white" von Mirjam weitergeholfen, über dieses Kit kann ich nicht genug Gutes sagen. Hier siehst du das Bundle davon.

With this challenge we were supposed to create a page in black and white with only one spot of colour. Not my strength, I like it colourful.

Anyway, it was fun to gather all the black and white materials. It would never occur to me to desaturate, I'd rather hunt for the right product. My favourite kit "It's not just black and white" from Mirjam helped (once more). I can't say enough good things about this kit. You can find the bundle here.
